news of great excitement!
The reveals are now live for Secret Santa 2012 over at be_compromised!!! Be sure to dive into the wonderful on the Masterlist.

On the one hand I am a tiny bit disappointed, because I didn't get chance to read anywhere close to all of them before the reveals went up. There's something great about reviewing anon. creative works, that part where people know that's what you thought, not what you think of them, y'know? I hope people still think I’m being honest, because I still intend to go through them ALL :D

I’m hugely excited to be able to say that always_a_queen wrote my gift Comfort and Joy (fic, PG, implied sexytimes and mild language). Summary: 'Tis The Season: Clint and Natasha (and the whole team) and the holiday season. Or: The Avengers celebrate Christmas and everyone gives Natasha unwarranted advise about her love life. I say again, I LOVE THIS TO PIECES! I love Natasha’s voice, I love all of the details, I love how Clint and Natasha are shown to be so complimentary, just right for each other, and I love the theme of comfort and joy, of Christmas being togetherness whether happy and perfect or not <3

It's also exciting to get to chat to people about the gift that I made: The Nature Of Dust for sugar_fey (R for sex, see post for warnings) Summary: Fic with accompanying collage of graphics/manipulations and icons for the prompt 1930s dustbowl AU. Clint and Natasha are members of a travelling circus. Dark/supernatural elements a la Carnivale optional but very welcome. When I read that sugar_fey had left that prompt I really hoped that her giftee would fill it. Then I was her giftee, which was all kinds of well now I had to put my writing where my wish was! I LOVED getting to play with the prompt, however much I struggled with it at times, so much so that I got carried away and made graphics as well and I ended up writing the longest fic I have managed to actually complete in years, wow.

To everyone who helped me with research questions about 1930s America and curses, this was why and thank you for all your help and interesting chats! And oodles of thanks to my beta readers, the amazing and amazingly helpful rthstewart and lar_laughs, who put up with me sending lots of things back to them time and time again, who read speedily, who caught mistakes, who gave me lots of thinky thoughts, and made everything more <3

I also got to play with a fantastic graphics team for Secret Santa: daxcat79, frea_o, hermyfan, oresteia, and purely_distel. There are links to the icons, gift banners, organiser gift graphics, and participation graphis on the Masterlist as well. Do add taking a look at all the shiny to your Secret Santa 2012 tour, which was brought to you by our Awesome Organisers Of Awesome anuna_81 and cybermathwitch :D

Just leaving a comment here to give you a massive thank you for organizing all of the graphics and handling everything, since I got to be on the front lines watching a lot of it. Seriously, you knocked it out of the park and were amazing, and I hope everybody I work for in the future is as wonderful and patient as you!

I'm behind on fics for the Secret Santa and haven't had the chance to read yours yet, but I promise, I'm going to get to it soon. 1930s America is so fascinating to me because my grandma grew up in the dustbowl and keeps telling me all of those stories about it. The graphics are all gorgeous, though (I grabbed all of them to put into the ebook I made of all of the stories), which just figures, given your insane talent with graphics.

Anyway, that was all I wanted to say, and also, I had a reaaaaally hard time not making up my own banner for my story and just throwing it in with the lot to you, but that probably would've given me away. ;)

Aww *grins and blushes*. I had a blast doing it. Seriously, you were all so lovely, and productive, and speedy. I still can't get over how many of the gift banners you made!!! And all of them gorgeous! On top of a hugely long Secret Santa fic with graphics! Woman, you are productive like woah <3

Wow. Anytime you feel you want to talk about those stories or the history at that time, I'm all ears. I loved the prompt that I got and I fell in love with the time I was writing about.

You're doing an ebook?! Are you going to make it available on be_compromised or anywhere? Because wow :D

I'd wondered if that one was yours! I read the first part, but had to go offline before I read the rest, so I thought I'd wait until I'd read the whole thing before commenting (I should have learnt by now not to wait), and I remember you said that you'd done chapter-header graphics for your gift, and you joked about the name when I sent you the banner text. The premise is intriguing and I love the set up and I really want to read the rest of it :D Heh, I did the banner for my own fic and I know someone else did too (oresteia if I remember right) so you wouldn't have been alone, but yeah, it would have confirmed for me that it was yours *grins*.

Haha, I was just having fun, and the prompt I got, though I balked at it at first, just hit the right creative notes. I don't think it was a matter of productivity so much as I was curious to see if I could do it or not. I like challenges and I like making people happy.

Currently, I'm more focused on the 1916-1918 era (yep, WWI) because of a fic I'm writing in another fandom, but I will definitely take you up on that offer!

Yeah, I've combined all of the text into the ebook so far, but I was waiting until the authors were revealed. The epub will have all of the graphics (including banners we made and gift baskets), and it's sorted first by rating and then by alphabetical order (since I didn't know the authors). I don't know if the mods will be comfortable with me releasing it, though, so I should probably talk to them about it. I sent cybermathwitch an early version of it.

I make a lot of ebooks. It's kind of my thing. Speaking of which, if you want, here's the link to my Rascals, Scoundrels, Villains, and Knaves ebook if you want to save yourself some scrolling and just read it on the e-reader of your choice. :) And if you ever want anything you wrote turned into an ebook and hosted, let me know, I'm always looking for more authors to add to my downloads page.

I like challenges and I like making people happy. I'm just gonna sit here and love you for this <3

What fandom is that one for? *is curious* My brain is currently absorbed with fusion and crossover ideas, but I think I'd like to play more with the 1930s circus theme.

As long as everyone is credited, I don't see why not. It's pretty much like having an AO3 collection really, isn't it? Only I guess people might be less inclined to comment/leave feedback. But personally I like the download/pdf option on AO3 - I don't have an e-reader or anything, but it's handy when you're away from the internet, and when a fic is particularly long.

Wow, thank you for the offer! I don't think I've written anything that's really long enough for that kind of thing though. The Nature Of Dust is the longest fic I've completed in years. I'm hoping it pushes me out of my comfort zone into writing longer things, because I have ideas that need the space.

Well, the WWI fic is for a Downton Abbey fic that I unfortunately didn't finish before I lost my love for the show, and of course for this Secret Santa exchange, I've been buried in 18th century, which is not a century I knew anything about prior to me looking at my prompt and going, "Well, I don't write seduction fics, and I can't write angst very well, so I've got medieval, Three Musketeers, or a Pirates fusion." The pirates seemed like the most fun, so I went ahead and wrote that. I learned a lot writing it and for once, history seemed kind of interesting.

Koren's going to be putting up a post asking if people want to opt out. I suppose I should upload a sample ebook for everybody to view. I guess it does cut out reviews, but I don't know, it's handier. And people do come back after reading ebooks and look up the authors that inspired them. So, yeah. I need to go reply to all of the people that commented on my fic, actually....

And you should definitely hop out of that comfort zone! Come with me! Write dangerously!

I watched the first episode of Downton, then the odd christmas special, and now I'm living back home I'm watching it again, because everyone in the family likes it. I think I missed the WW1 stuff, but it sounds interesting! It bites when you don't finish a fic in that 'so excited' mode though, meh. Good luck with it!

Pirates <3

Yeah, I think people come back, and maybe it helps not to have the expectation type thing of having to comment at the bottom, just enjoying it, and it gives you time to think before commenting. I dunno, I don't read many ebooks, just curious about how it goes :)

I will write long!fic ideas this year, I will I will! :D

Glad you enjoyed it :D I loved the prompt and had huge amounts of fun!

I believe yours is one of the many I haven't read yet *sigh* but have on my to-read list *bounces up and down in excitement*.

YOU SEE WHY I HAD TO MAKE GRAPHICS?! I am in love with Clint in a waistcoat and Natasha in a corset photoshoots (or, y'know, Renner and Johansson as they're otherwise known, heh). Here is the original corset photo for your delight (I manipulated it for the circus graphics. Actually, I might post all my manipulations later. Pretty pictures were pretty):

WOMAN, WHAT YOU HAVE WROUGHT WITH THAT PROMPT, YOU REALLY HAVE NO IDEA, DO YOU? I finished a 10,000 word fic and now I want to write about that Bobbi growing up, even though I haven't even read any comics with Bobbi in them, and I want to do a short fic that's more of a straightforward Carnivale fusion where Clint is the guy who's house gets knocked down at the start and Natasha is a burlesque dancer and THIS PROMPT HAS EATEN MY BRAIN! ALL THINGS CIRCUS, BRING IT! And then ON TOP OF THAT, on top of giving me all this, that you like what came from it this much? Crazy flailing over here, woman, crazy, crazy flailing <3

Heh, originally I just volunteered to make a few things for anuna_81 and cybermathwitch and then I asked daxcat79 if they'd be interested in joining in, because we had icon love going on, and then we thought, well, why not just ask the whole comm...and then there was a team and beautiful, shiny things flooding my inbox. Organising that was far from a trial, they were all brilliant, and it was so much fun to get to play :D
