big banging along regardless
I've not managed to write enough to meet the rough draft deadline for marvel_bang so I've had to drop out, meh. On the plus side? To meet that deadline you have to have 80% of a fic completed that will be at least 10,000 words long. I have the words, I'm just, be still my heart, still writing. If this keeps up, and then I actually finish, I will be very happy with this, even if it means no shiny big bang art or fanmixes for me. I just need to keep this going!

Nooo! for missing the deadline but yeyyy! for writing it anyway! I look forward to reading it. :D

I now very, very rarely sign up for things where there isn't a drop out space or where me dropping out will impact other peole - I don't like with marvel big bang that as you long as you drop out before the artist sign ups you can still try, so I get all the encouragement of a deadline without the worry that I'll be letting someone down that makes it less fun.

Aww, I will take that as encouragement as much as any deadline :D

Sorry to hear -- but YES! for continuing to write. I love your stuff. Any word written by inkvoices is a good word!

Are you still signed up for doing art, though? (She asked, disingenuously, using one of your icons ...) ;-)

I have no idea whether what I submitted will actually amount to 80% but it's 22,000 words so dammit, it will have to do!! Two chapters to go ...

Wow, thank you *blushes and grins and blushes some more*

...y'know, I'd forgotten until you just reminded me, but yes, yes I am. Guess I'm still taking part in marvel big bang after all!

Are you someone who starts at the beginning, writes to the end, and is done, then? Because I start at the beginning, skip parts, outline some parts, make notes in others, get to the end, then fill in holes, then flesh parts out, then edit... I have the skeleton of beginning to end first, so for me a guestimate of 80% is beginning to end done and not too many huge holes. (I haven't gotten to the end of this story yet). I think it must be really difficult to estimate how done you are if you go from start to finish!

That would be me, too. Esepcially the editing part ... That's what makes the 80% so artificial for me -- especially in plot-driven pieces, I often add as much as 10% to a story in the editing process as that's when I discover where the holes/inconsistencies.

Also, I have been known to write the first and last chapter, and then spend inordinate amounts of time getting from here to there. Like when they built the Great Canadian Railway, one lot started at the Pacific, one at the Atlantic, and the trick was to meet up somewhere in the prairies to "drive the last spike". I have described my creative process as making pizza: I start out with a lump of dough until I get a ball, then start punching it down and pulling it, patching the holes, pull and punch some more, and then at the very end I sprinkle on the toppings ...

With marvel_bang, what I'm missing is the mayhem chapters. One element came to me today, which will require a rewrite/addition in one of the earlier ones ... Punch, and pull .... ;-)

Always interesting to hear about people's creative thinkings :D

Also, I have been known to write the first and last chapter, and then spend inordinate amounts of time getting from here to there. I have to have some idea of the journey, otherwise the story ends up going completely off track and I'm sat there staring at the ending going, 'I'm really sorry' *grins*.

'Mayhem chapters', ha, I like that!

Artist claims opened today. Wow, and now I want to read so many of those fics LOL. Things that leapt out: there are fics with ladies, with Maria, with Carol in a coffee shop AU, yes please; the Pacific Rim crossover fics don't sound that similiar to what I'm writing, that's nice; there's a Clint circus steampunk fic I WILL READ THIS. Problem is, wanting to read something is not always the same as wanting to play with it with arts and fanmixes and stuff for me, and also some I really hope we get some paintings or drawings for, because my heart, those would be amazing, so I didn't want to run off with those, heh.

Good luck! Big Bangs terrify me, so I'm always impressed by anyone who manages to come anywhere close to the limit!
