Terry Pratchett
And today an author I loved but unfortunately never managed to meet. For anyone who isn't aware yet, Sir Terry Pratchett passed away today. Guardian article and BBC article. BBC radio 4 selection of programmes in his honour.

I have so many memories tied to his books, each book a new friend, and so many things I learnt and new ways of seeing the world... I read my first Pratchett book in spite of the front cover, and that was the book that taught me not to judge a book by it's cover and that books could actually make you laugh out loud. He managed to make me laugh a whole lot over the years and now he's finally made me cry. A world without Terry Pratchett, even though his 'embuggerance' has been public knowledge for so long, just doesn't compute.

I have to admit his books never did much for me, but I sure loved what he did for fantasy writing. Loved those tweets (I even retweeted on of them ...)

I can't believe it. His books have been a part of my life since I first wandered through the sci fi/fantasy stacks and picked Good Omens up based on a friend's recommendation. I can actually link phases of my life to which 'line' of the Discworld series I related most to. I just... agh.

*hugs books to my chest*
