Civil War Rec List

To celebrate Civil War release day tomorrow here in the UK I bring to you a Civil War rec list! These ones have been sustaining me in my wait – and I’m going to wait a bit longer because a comic book friend told me today that they’ve over ordered the steelbook edition and a copy is mine if I want it, but I won’t see them again for a bit, but steelbook. These are my favourites of what I've read. Feel free to rec (me) more Civil War goodness in the comments!

Peaceable Skills by Dira Sudis (dsudis) (1682 words, general audiences)
Summary: He doesn’t steal, and that means he has to pay. To pay he has to work.
Rec: A quiet little fic about Bucky getting on with getting on pre-Civil War.

Repair Work by Igrockspock (610 words, general audiences)
Summary: Clint says, “I'm retired. One hundred percent. Done with Avenging.”
Laura says, “Will that be for five minutes, or for five days?”
Rec: Perfect and amusing little fic is perfect and amusing.

Dibs Not by Aloneintherain (1673 words, general audiences)
Summary: Inspired by anon: 'AU where the airport fight ends in a minor debate over who has to take Peter home b/c he's literally too young to fly unaccompanied without fuckloads of paperwork.'
Rec: Peter just wants to go home, but everyone is being sassy about it.

here at the edge of the moon by andibeth82 (11,612 words, teen and up)
Summary: Natasha Romanoff before and after Civil War: the girl she was and the girl she became.
Rec: Want a long, full of details, Natasha-foccused fic? Got you covered.

The Futurist by AlphaFlyer (2946 words, teen and up)
Summary: Tony, rattling around.
Rec: Tony reviews and looks to the future in an introspective fic full of things to think about.

Something That Starts With by Fabrega (1825 words, general audiences)
Summary: "Come on," Scott says, "We've gotta keep ourselves entertained."
"We really don't," Sam counters.
Rec: Just a fun prison fic. Because banter.

Lessons, Roots, Signals by Copperbadge (1799 words, teen and up)
Summary: The fugitive Avengers have their own ways of coping.
Rec: After the Raft and in Wakanda. I especially like how this one takes into account the characters' relationships with the location as much as each other.

Reasons Sam Won't Move His Seat For Bucky by neversaydie (2274 words, teen and up)
Summary: The time he stole his steering wheel (right out of his fucking hands while he was very much driving and trying to avoid being killed Steve it's not funny in hindsight).
The time he ripped off Sam's wing and kicked him off a helicarrier.
The time he picked Sam up by his face and threw him across the room.
Sam has a long list of reasons Bucky isn't getting any favours from him any time soon.
Rec: For fun and sass. And a great Sam Wilson voice.

Rocks Fall; Everyone Dies by paperclipbitch (5105 words, general audiences)
Summary: Pepper tries to smile. “You know me,” she says, “always putting out Tony’s fires.” [Civil War tie-in.]
Rec: A Pepper focused fic that’s achey in all the right places.
