quotes and meme

Today someone gave me a book of quotes called 'The Wit and Wisdom of Great Writers'.  I like reading quotes.  It feels like reading part of a story from a distance.  (They can make great prompts too.)  There was this one: "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind" by Rudyard Kipling, dated February 14th 1923, which made me wonder if we'd ever end up debating the banning of words as much as we have the classification of cannabis.  Can you imagine the court cases?

Then there was a quote by JK Rowling on Harry: "I can do to him whatever I like.  I'm allowed to torture him as much as I want.  He's mine."  This made me laugh a lot, especially thinking about the torture fanfic writers have put the guy through as well.

And a meme gacked from

inksplotched:

If you read this, (even if we don't speak often) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me. It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE. When you're finished, post this little paragraph in your journal and be surprised (or mortified) about what people DON'T ACTUALLY remember about you.

Oh, man. I just remember that time we ran out of marshmallows at three in the morning and decided to go get more? Only problem was, we had to drive three states over to get them for some reason (who knows, now), and got pulled over by that cop? Geeze, he was mean. And then we sped away after just getting a warning, and almost hit that cat! It was okay though because we didn't. We scooped him up and took him into the car and when we finally got to that giant store and found the marshmallows it was already dawn and we were late for whatever we had to do that day so we said "Screw It" and spent the whole day lying on the beach reading, playing with our cat, and eating marshmallows.

Best day ever!

It's a good job you were driving, since I don't have a license and if i'd been driving we would have got a hell of a lot more than a warning. But hey, we had to be speeding because the 'mellows were just That Damn Important. And how's little Furball doing?
