bits and bobs
> Seeing the sharable banners I made for the Secret Santa anuna_81 is hosting over on be_compromised when I scroll through my f-list is making me squee with joy, like someone who just got told that there's a hugely fun Clint/Natasha winter holiday exchange is happening :D

> I have some Doctor Who thoughts, but I think I'm going to wait until the last episode of this run - only five episodes?! - before sharing them. Because I have hopes that the next episode is going to confirm some of my thinking or blow it out of the water with some magnificent Moffat. Plus, Angels! (For them I am preparing my hiding spot behind the sofa.)

> Dad has gotten me watching The Walking Dead (a tv series about survivors during a zombie apocalypse), which someone at work lent him. It's strangely addictive in a 'I need to find out what happens next' kinda way. And whenever the titular walkers show up my dad gets great amusement out of me telling the characters, "No, run. Run. Run! RUN YOUR MORONS!"

> A warning for Avengers fans: check your pre-orders. The director’s commentary has been taken off the list of special features on the Blu-ray Avengers and Blu-ray 6 disc Marvel set in the UK and other non-US countries. (What on earth are you doing Disney? No special features on the DVD, the Tesseract box set was withdrawn, and now no director’s cut on ANY disc?!) There are rumours of a limited/special edition coming out over here later. Even if those are true, I’m disappointed in how customers and fans are being treated.

> I'm working on taking all the fics that I love that are on AO3 off my laptop bookmarks and onto AO3 bookmarks. So far I've shifted 88 onto AO3, mostly Avengers. Fancy some recs? Knock yourselves out and keep your eyes peeled for more :) I’m not sure how to organise my bookmarks other than by adding my own tags, which are pretty self-explanatory. One thing that might need clarifying is that Avengers Ladies, Sherlock Ladies etc. isn’t just female characters, but also gender swaps, trans characters, gender queer, any and all types of ladies, because it’s me pointing to any and all Ladies Being Awesome :)

> And I AM catching up on reading fic! It's just taking me some time, both to read them and then to figure out what I want to say in comments :D (Also I seem to have a lot less internet time even though now I’m actually unemployed and occupation-less. Odd.)

I was super disappointed with the Avengers DVD. In fact, the only good thing about owning the Avengers DVD is that now I own the Avengers on DVD. I WANTED GAG REELS DAMMIT. What the fuck is this?

I knew the DVD wasn't going to have any extras, which I was peeved about, but that they've even messed up the blu-ray? *head desk* Luckily I managed to see a bunch of stuff on the internet before it got pulled down. Still peeved :@

Yeah, I didn't see much. I wanted to wait for good quality on the DVD and then it didn't turn up. My friend has them all on her laptop because she got it through iTunes. So I'm just going to see it with her. :P

Well done iTunes! Glad you're getting to see them - of the ones I've watched the gag reel is brilliant fun and the extended/alternate scenes are interesting :)

And glad you made it to York a-okay without hitching a lift from one of those canoers :D

Yeah, sometimes I think it might actually be worth using iTunes properly. :P

And I think canoeing into York would have been fun. :P

I got the U.S. Blu-ray/DVD set, and I thought there was going to be more to the bonus features. Item 47 and the gag reel were pretty funny, but for some reason I thought there were going to be more deleted scenes (as fine was they were). The featurettes were average at best, so it seems the meat of the whole thing is the "second screen experience", for which you have to download a free app from iTunes. I'm waiting to hear what other people think about it before I try it for myself.

I feel horrible that the overseas fans are losing out on Joss' commentary, since that's the best part of the whole thing (besides the movie itself). It's very enlightening and quite entertaining at times (like how he's quick to lay Coulson's death at Kevin Feige's feet). I will say that I think it would've been more fun if some of the cast members took part as well. I know everyone's got busy schedules, but it still would've been cool.

I hope the part about the forthcoming special/director's version is true, because I too am disappointed that we've yet to see it (Joss did mention in the commentary the scenes he wished he hadn't cut).

P.S. Isn't The Walking Dead great? I've been hooked since day one, and I'm bouncing with excitement since the new series is starting here next month!

I've seen the gag reel and what I think was item 47 online, along with a bunch of other extras, so I'm wandering if the rest are worth it. What's the second screen experience? I haven't heard of that.

Apparently it's because the commentary wasn't done in time, but we would have waitied. And now they're saying that they won't rerelease it with the commentary because people who've already bought it would have to spend more money, which, some of us won't care or haven't bought it yet and don't they WANT to make more money? :S

I've watched all of season two of the Walking Dead and I have so many questions about where it left off! But first I've been lent season one, so backing up, heh.

PS. And I thought I'd friended you back ages ago, but apparently not *head desk*.

I saw someone mention that the U.S. blu-ray is region-free, so there might still be a chance you'll get to see the extras. It might be more expensive, though.

The "Second-Screen Experience" is an app you can get for your laptop or iPad, and it allows you to get extra content on your computer or tablet as you watch the blu-ray disc. I've read one positive mention of it, but I'm still in a 'wait and see' mode about it.

P.S. No worries, and thanks! :)
